east village farmers market
Every Saturday morning from 11am-1pm, The Catalyst Network of Communities is partnering with Raw Inspirations to bring live entertainment to the East Village Farmers Market located on 1st Street between Linden Avenue and Elm Avenue. Come by for lunch and hang out in the community area! There is free parking every Saturday for the Market at the parking lot on E. Broadway and Elm Avenue just 1 block away.

urban rhythm auditions
 Long Beach high school teens, young adults and GLEEKS ages 14-25! Audition for Long Beach's first community-based urban show choir on Friday, July 9th at 5:30pm at Immanuel Center, 3215 East 3rd Street, Long Beach, CA 90814. Click here for more info!

Writers Workshop
A creative writing workshop for fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry. Desiree is a certified Amherst Writers & Artists Affiliate. These workshops are non-hierarchical and treat all artists at all levels with respect. Participants leave charged up and feeling very positive about their creative skills. Long Beach Parenting Forum
The mission of the Long Beach Parenting Forum is:
1. To provide an opportunity for parent education through mutual support and community discussion.
2. To offer parents the opportunity to reflect upon their personal family values and conscious parenting choices.
3. To provide an opportunity for parents to support one another in the common goal of raising responsible, caring individuals.

This forum will be a support group for parents, so we ask that you leave the little ones at home so that everyone can focus on the topic.
Forum meets at Catalyst Space, Long Beach every Thursday night from 7:30pm - 9pm.

Connected Corridor Grant Workshop
Connected Corridor has announced the availability of grants to community groups that are able to produce greater collaboration, community empowerment and civic engagement in the Phase Four area (Atlantic Avenue south of PCH to downtown). Anyone is welcome to apply, but your participation in the Connected Corridor process will be reviewed in the decision making process. For more information, go to www.connectedcorridor.org. There will be two workshop dates hosted at the Catalyst Space, Long Beach for people who would like to speak with project director Carina Cristiano-Leoni, ask questions, and get support for completing the grant proposal.

The 2011 Long Beach Dance Festival
Collaborative Planning Meeting
The Catalyst Network of Communities and Datugan Dance Theatre are co-hosting the 1st annual Long Beach Dance Festival in October of 2011 which will include a year-long strategy of smaller dance events in public spaces. Join the collaborative planning team every 3rd Wednesday of the month. This month we'll be meeting on Wednesday, July 21st at 7pm - 9pm at the Catalyst Space. We've got plenty of time to plan ahead and do this well! Together we can shape this to be an amazing experience for Long Beach. Contact Eric Leocadio, eric.leocadio@gocatalyst.org

"Girls Night Out" - Movie Night
The H.O.P.E. Foundation, Inc. is sponsoring its second monthly GNO event hosted at the Catalyst Space, Long Beach on Friday, July 23rd 7pm - 10pm. Ladies will get together and watch a movie chosen by popular vote the night of the event. Food, drinks & treats will be served. Bring your favorite house slippers. If you don't have any, we'll provide them! RSVP and email your favorite movie to Pamela Foddrell at foundhope2009@gmail.com. The most popular will be narrowed down to three movies and voted on that night. Ages 18 & over.

The Creative Visionaries workshop and group is designed to assist you with the four A's. Awakening Creativity, Achieving Acceptance, Accepting Accountability and Allowing Productivity to manifest YOUR success. Utilizing inspired exercises and accountability, participants will be lovingly guided toward productivity and accomplishment. Simply put--this group is about making things HAPPEN! ¡YA BASTA! / Enough is Enough!: Summer Youth Organizing Institute
This summer 2010, One Imagination offers ¡YA BASTA! / Enough is Enough!: Summer Youth Organizing Institute, a program building the leadership and power of youth ages 13-19 in the South Los Angeles, South Bay/Harbor, and Long Beach area. Through political education and organizing skills, youth will receive the resources and tools to exercise their power as leaders through campaign development, community building, advocacy, and direct action organizing.
One Imagination is a community group fiscally sponsored by the Catalyst Network of Communities. ¡YA BASTA! / Enough is Enough! is held at the Catalyst Space, Long Beach every Saturday from 2pm - 6pm.
